Frequently asked questions
How do I install DuoCommander?
Download the file, open it and drag DuoCommander to the “Applications” folder. On first launch macOS asks whether you want to open the app – confirm with “Open”.
DuoCommander does not show some folders or cannot change files.
macOS protects folders such as Desktop, Documents and Downloads. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access, add DuoCommander, switch it on and restart the app.
The function keys (F2, F5 …) do not do what they should.
On many Mac keyboards the F keys control brightness and volume first. Hold Fn, or turn on “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” in System Settings → Keyboard.
How do I change the language?
Settings (⌘,) → General → App language. DuoCommander can restart itself afterwards.
How do I change keyboard shortcuts?
Settings (⌘,) → Keyboard Shortcuts. Click a shortcut, press the new key combination and choose “Save”. F1 shows an overview of all shortcuts.
Why is DuoCommander not in the Mac App Store?
A file manager has to reach every folder. Apps in the Mac App Store run in a protected environment (the “sandbox”) that would restrict this heavily. That is why DuoCommander is a download on this site.
How do I report a bug?
Write to support@softshelf.de and include the DuoCommander version (menu DuoCommander → About DuoCommander), your macOS version and what you did when it happened.
